TARA ANNE CHARTERS
Currently the flounder are moving out of the back bays and into the ocean around Wildwood, Cape May and Delaware Bay. The flounder fishing has been good and should improve even more at the water temp goes up. The shark season has come to an end for the summer this will resume again in the fall as the water cools. The Tuna are starting to show up now as the water temp rises and should be good in the next week or two, and should remain good till the end of August. Call for open dates some weekend dates are still available.

TARA ANNE CHARTERS
There is barely a day that goes by that we don’t get a call for someone looking for a head boat and not a charter boat. However, there is a very big difference between the two that most people don’t understand. A head boat is much like taking a bus leaving and returning at a special time each day. On a head boat you pay by the head (per person) a fare and ride and fish with other people who also pay there fare.
This has some benifits and some downsides; the benifits are the cost you pay on average is about $65 per person and you don’t need a reservation. This is only the real benifit to a head boat. Some of the downsides to a head boat are it can be over crowded, no personal service, some cases you never see your captain, you have to pay to rent a rod, and have to pay to have your fish cleaned. When chartering a boat; however it costs slightly more if you have 6 people.
We get $550 for the day that averages out to $90 per person, you don’t have to pay to rent a rod, and you get your fish cleaned for free. Some other advantages of a charter boat are you can leave and return on a schedule that is suitable to you and your crew. You also have your own personal service by both the Captain and the mate.
You can also set the tone for the day, it may be funny to you if one of your friends has been drinking all day and is loud; but it may not be funny to you if your stuck next to some guy that you don’t even know all day that has been drinking and is loud. On a head boat you have know choice as to where you are going, on the Tara Anne(charter boat) we discuss this with most charters, to see what is best for them.
Sometimes the wind direction may have the Ocean ruff and the Delaware Bay calm or visversa, this maybe important to some one that is prone to seasickness. There have been times we left a spot due to the wind and tie conditions to look for calmer water, and sometimes cut the charter short if the charter choices to do so. On a head boat even if 99% of the people are sick and there is still people fishing and time left they are going to stay on schedule.

If your thinking about going deep sea fishing in NJ now or in the next month this is whats happening as of now. Charter The Tara Anne this Sat. or Sun. your choice of Seabass fishing or Shark fishing. If your looking for a fun day of fishing with your friends/family seabass fishing is the way to go, they are relatively easy to catch and fun to catch too. Last weekend we Had a trip Sat. and Sun. we had constant action all day both days; not even 3 minutes would go by with out someone catching a fish. Sat. we caught around 200-250 seabass but many of them were throw backs. On Sunday we did about the same averaging about 200-250 seabass; on this trip we had a ten year old kid and he caught a 3lb 1oz seabass and was in the fisherman magazine this week. Flounder are also be caught now in this area just not in great numbers yet. We are currently getting $550 for 8hrs for up to 6 people and that includes Ice, Bait, Tackle, Rods/Reels. If your looking to go out for something bigger then a Shark charter maybe for you. The shark season has started and should last about a month to a month and a half, The water temp is right now and we are getting $850 for 10hrs for up to 6 people and that includes Ice, Bait, Tackle, Rods/Reels. We are still running charters for Drum this Sat. night for $550 up to 6 people which includes Ice, bait, tackle, rods/reels. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call. Even though the N.M.F.S insist that Mackerel is abundant in the area, just like the last few years we couldn’t find them. On a Bright note though the Delaware Bay Striper fishing is heating up. We heard from other Captains that a few nice sized black drum were also boated this weekend.
Out at the Seabass grounds there were reports of good Seabass catches in the 6 pound range. At the Tile grounds there were good catches of Blueline and Goldens some up to 45-47 pounds. Seems like the Doggies are biting pretty good so far this year. The bait choice for the tiles was squid while the Seabass were biting on Butterfly and Diamond jigs.
So, it looks like were off to a pretty good start and some GREAT fishing as we get closer to May.
We still have good dates for outings available but they are starting to fill up. If you’re thinking about going out Just give the OL’ Captain a call.

With spring finally here we’ve been working on getting the Tara Anne ready to go. She will be ready any day now.
The water temp has been in the 43-44 degree range and there are already reports of stripers hitting. Although it is a mixed bag right now with quite a few shorts there are definitely some keepers! Clams seem to be the bait of choice.
If you’ve been thinking of going out now is the perfect time to set up a trip. There are still good dates available.
We know the economy is tough right now and will work with you to ensure that your outing is affordable, exciting and fun!

With September only a week away its easy for us sun lovers to get a little blue. Where did the summer go? They seem to pass faster every year. But, all is not forsaken, the weather is still gorgeous, the sun still warm and there is still plenty of good deep sea fishing to be had in NJ. Flounder season ends on September 7th and it seems like they almost know because they were trailing off this week. The Blue fishing, which also had been really hot just a week ago also seemed to dry up a little this week but, I have no doubt the speedsters will be back again soon. On a bright note the croakers and weakies have been hitting pretty good. If you have never been deep sea fishing in NJ now is the perfect time to try. If you’re the adventurous type and really like a challenge, there’s been several reports of 150-pound and larger bluefin tuna being boated just last week. Remember September is a great time to vacation at the Jersey Shore. There is still plenty to see and do. The weather is still wonderful and the crowds are down to a trickle. Captain Joe (856)304-3293
